Flowers and Fun Time

This year is going by so fast! It feels like just yesterday we were celebrating the winter holidays and now we’re like two weeks away from Beltane, and Passover starts this Friday! I feel like we’re only moments away from summer, which will hopefully mean some beach time and swimming for me. I figure it’s a good time for a spiritual update because I feel like I’ve really been focusing on my wls journey on here and although it is a big part of my life right now, I created this space to talk about my spiritual life so I want to kinda get back to that.

On Friday I’m going to a Passover Seder in Berkeley which I’m very excited about. It’s become sort of a tradition to do so, although last year I was sick and couldn’t make it. This year will of course be different, considering I won’t be able to eat as much food and won’t be able to drink any alcohol (Sandra Dee the Sleevie says no!), but I’m still really excited to be able to celebrate with some great people. I really appreciate being invited every year because it reminds me why I want to convert– it’s about the ritual and community. That’s what I love so much. Of course, I always get nervous because I don’t know a lick of Hebrew and the whole Seder process is still quite foreign to me (I mean come on, it only comes once a year) and I don’t want to make a fool of myself or accidentally offend anybody.

Of course, Beltane is in like two weeks so I’m thinking about how I want to celebrate as a solitary without feeling like a total loner. I’m a social creature, I was meant to worship WITH people. However, since I don’t have people right now to celebrate with, I will make do on my own and try to be happy about it. I’m thinking of moving my altar– which currently doesn’t exist anyway– from our sad excuse for a dresser to a little table we have in our bedroom which is currently covered in clutter. For Beltane I’ll add some nice flowers and perhaps make a garland for my hair, and then make a small but thoughtful meal which I’ll probably eat at the park (picnic style). It’s also the day of my choir concert so I will be most likely be doing all of this in the morning, but perhaps some of my family will want to go out to dinner after the show which is not exactly for Beltane, but is celebratory in nature so I’ll take it.
