“You’re shrinking!”
I know.
“What’s your secret? Tell me, what are you doing?”
Well I had surgery. It was a tough decision, but I knew it was time to do something. I had the surgery two months ago.
“Oh. Well good for you. Look at you, you’re shrinking!”
Yeah…
“Just don’t disappear, okay?”
I won’t.
I’ve lost 165 pounds in the last 2.5 years and people say stuff like this to me everyday, multiple times a day. As if losing weight allows a door to be opened for people to comment on our appearances in a way that they think is nice but is really inappropriate. I am really uncomfortable with the comments. I know people mean well but I think sometimes they cross a line into unaccpetableness and its hard to correct that knowing their intention is good. I’m still struggling with this.
